Getting to Manor Park and MPMR

By car (yellow route on the map below):

Manor park is just east of Glossop off the A57. For people visiting by car, use the Corn Street entrance (left at the roundabout). parking can be at a premium on busy days. The most direct way of finding the the railway from the car park is to cross over the river bridge to the other side. From there, you can follow the path up the hill. Keep going past the bowling pavilion. You will see the railway on the right next to the play area. Alternatively, you can go up the hill after the riverside play area. Turn left before the pavilion & play area, for the station.

Travel in by local bus (follow the green routes after your stop, on the map below)...

Old Glossop and Manor Park are served by 3 bus routes from Glossop. All routes can be picked up at the Henry Street bus stands, just down from the railway station.

Service 390 operates around Old Glossop and then along Manor Park Rd. The best stop is the Queens Arms (which is open most of the day for drink & meals). From the Queens, follow round to the left, go over the river bridge and then cross the road. Take the gate into the park and follow that path until the path ends, next to the play area. The railway and station are on the left. Service 390 does not run on Sundays.

Services 237 & 393 operate directly via High Street East and Sheffield Rd. The nearest stop is the Commercial Inn. From there, walk up Manor Park Rd to the main gate entrance. Enter the park and walk towards the toilets and bowling pavilion (straight ahead). The railway station is right after the play area. Service 393 runs Mon-Sat, and service 237 extends to Old Glossop on Sundays.

Fancy the walk ? (follow the blue routes on the map below) :

There are many routes into the park. Here are the easiest ones. For the top of the park and to visit Old Glossop, leave the Town Centre via Norfolk Street. Follow that road until the junction of Hall Meadow Rd. Go along Hall Meadow Rd and Church Street. You can take the marked path on the right that follow round the outer edges of the park, or you can continue through the Church grounds and pass the Queens Arms. After passing the Church grounds, turn right and walk down Manor Pk Rd. You will see a gate on the right that leads directly into the park. Follow that path to the end and turn left.

Route 2 is to follow the footpath directly out of the railway station car park along Station Steet. This follows but avoids High Str East for most of it`s length. Halfway along the footpath, you can skirt the Duke of Norfolk School to join the park perimeter footpath leading to Hall Meadow Rd, or go ahead onto King Edward Ave. On King Edward Ave, turn right and down the hill to the Corn Street roundabout. Turn left into Corn Street, then turn right to go over the footbridge. From there, climb up the hill to find the bowling pavilion, play area and railway.
